The Ordinary Sheriff Courts for Civil Causes are held, during Session, at Edin-
burgh, within the Sheriff Court-house, George IV. Bridge, every Tuesday and Thursday,
at 11 a.m. ; and at Leith, in the Sheriff Court-room there, every Tuesday, at 10^ a.m.
The Sheriff holds a Court for hearing Appeals at Edinburgh on Wednesdays.
Courts for Causes under the Debts Recovery Act are held at Edinburgh on Mon-
.ays at 10 a.m. ; at Leith on Tuesdays, after the Ordinary Court cases ; and at Dalkeith
on the third Thursday of each month.
Courts for First Diets in Jury Criminal Trials are held at Edinburgh on Mondays.
and for Second Diets on Thursdays.
The Sheriff Small-Debt Court for the County is held within the Criminal Court-
room, Sheriff Court-house, George IV. Bridge, every Wednesday and Friday at 10 o'clock ;
and for the Leith District, every Tuesday at 10^ o'clock, within the Sheriff Court-room,
Leith. All civil causes and prosecutions for statutory penalties, are competent in these
Courts for any debt or demand not exceeding the sum of £12 sterling. The judges are
;he Sheriff and Sheriff-substitutes. Summonses are issued for these Courts daily at the
respective Clerk's offices, Sheriff Court-house, George IV. Bridge, Edinburgh, from 10
till i, and Constitution Street, Leith, from 11 till 3.
The Circuit Sheriff Small-Debt Court is held at Dalkeith on the third Thursday of
each month, at 11 o'clock, in the Court-house, White Hart Street. The Sheriff -clerk
Depute issues summonses for this district.
The Excise Licensing Court is held on the third Tuesday of April, and last Tuesday
of October ; and for Appeals, about fourteen days thereafter. «
Justice of Peace Small-Debt and Road Courts for the County are held within the
County-rooms, for Small-debt cases, every Monday at 11 o'clock, and for Road and Police
cases, every second and fourth Tuesday of each month, at the same hour. At Dalkeith,
for Road and Police cases, the last Thursday of each month, at 11 o'clock. The hours of
attendance at the Justice of Peace Office are from 10 till 8, and from 6-£ till 8. On Satur-
days, from 10 till 2.
