The General Meetings take place, in terms of the Act, " upon the first Tuesday after the
29th of September ; upon the day on which the Commissioners of Supply shall meet
annually for assessing the county with the land-tax (30th April) ; upon the first Tuesday
after the 12th day of November ; on the first Tuesday after the Christmas recess of the
Court of Session, but which is now altered to the 3d Tuesday of January; and on the
Tuesday immediately before the rising of the winter and summer sessions of the said
Court respectively." The following are the days of meeting for the present year : — Tuesday,
4th October, and Tuesday, 15th November ; each day at 12 o'clock.
