PARISH OF INVERAVON.
A very extensive parish east of the Spey, taking its name from the river Avon
xvkich flows through it for six or seven miles, and falls into the Spey near the
Cuurch. A portion of the parish is in Morayshire, but the greater part is in Banff-
Population in 1861— in Morayshire, 152 ; in Banffshire, 2487. Total population of
Inveravon proper, 868 ; whole parish, including Glenlivet, 2630.
Heritors-Sir George Macpherson Grant, Bart., of Ballindalloch (whose principal
seat, Baillmdalloch Castle, is beautifully situated near the confluence of the Avon
with the Spey) ; W. Grant of Carron ; and His Grace the Duke of Richmond.
Patron— The Earl of Seafield.
