CLOSELY CONNECTED WITH
ELGIN AND THE COUNTY OF MORAY.
Parts of two of the following parishes — Inveravon and Keith — are in
Morayshire, and the whole are, in business, so closely connected
with Elgin and the County of Moray, that a Directory for Morayshire,
to be complete, must have them included : —
PARISH OF ABERLOUR.
The parish includes the villages of Charlestown and Craigellachie, and is bounded
on the west by the Spey, on the south by Inveravon, on the east by Mortlach, and
on the north by Mortlach and Boharm.
Population in 1861— In rural district, 1120 ; in Charlestown, 545 ; total, 1665.
Heritors — Earl of Fife, J. W. Grant of Wester Elchies, Win. Grant of Carron,
Miss Macpherson Grant of Aberlour.
