The Glasgow Royal Asylum is incorporated by
royal charter. Its affairs are managed by directors,
who are in part deputed from various public bodies
in the city, and in part appointed by the qualified
contributors to the funds of the Institution.
The Asylum provides accommodation for over 500
patients from all grades of society, and at all rates of
board. No one derives any pecuniary gain from the
hoards paid for patients. Application for the ad-
mission of patients should be made to Dr. Yellow-
lees, the physician superintendent, at the Asylum.
When practicable the application should be personal
rather than by letter.

provide and furnish advice and medicine to those

mote the advancement of medical and surgical science

efficient instruction of students in this department as
opportunity occurs.
In the New Hospital, which was opened by Her
Grace the Duchess of Montrose on 22nd October last,
there are 33 beds ; and in the Old Hospital, which
has now been converted into a "Home of Peace" for
those patients past remedial treatment, there are 10
beds. The directors appeal most earnestly for funds,
as the ordinary income is insufficient to meet the
expenditure.
This is the only hospital in the city devoted ex-
clusively to cancer, affording free admission, and
entirely supported by voluntary contributions. It
has no connection with the Cancer and Skin Insti-
tution, 409 St. Vincent Street.
