PERTHSHIRE CHARITABLE.
The principal object of this society, the qualifica-
tion for membership of which consists of a small sum
of entry-money, is to afford relief to persons in indi-
gent circumstances, natives, or widows of natives of
Perthshire, and their children resident in Glasgow
and the neij^bbourhood, or passing through the city
unexpectedly falling into distress.

The objects of the society are — (1) the preserva-
tion of the language, literature, music, poetry, dress,
antiquities, and athletic games of the Highlanders of
(Scotland ; (2) to found bursaries, or make annual or
other grants of money in aid of diligent or distin-
guished students, natives or sons of natives of the
Highlands of Scotland ; and (3) the affording tempo-
rary aid to deserving and destitute persons from the
Highlands in Glasgow.

EWEs'G BEQUESTS,
Founded in 1860 by .James Ewing of Strathleven.
The total amount of the bequests is £30,000, of which
j£16,500, less legacy duty, has been paid. The in-
come is divisible — one-third among decayed Glasgow
merchants, one-third in educating, &c., their sons,
ijij land the remaining one-third among their widows

ASSOCIATION FOR THE RELIEF OF
INCURABLES IN GLASGOW AND THE WEST
OF SCOTLAND.
Office— 101 St. Vincent Street.
This association has for its objects the establishment
and maintenance of one or more homes for the relief
of persons in Glasgow and the West of Scotland
suffering from incurable diseases, and the aiding of
such persons in their own homes. The association
has an institution at Kiriiintilloch, near Glasgow,
known as liroombill Home, with accommodation
for 100 patients, and spends a large sum monthly
in assisting about 200 incurables in their own
houses. The whole affairs of the association are
managed by a board of directors consisting of not
fewer than fifteen members, in addition to several
ex officio members. Chainnan of the Association, the

LOYAL CALEDONIA LODGE OF ODD-
FELLOWS, M.U.
Instituted 1840. Place of Meeting, 172 Buchanan St.
This society has for its object the relief of its mem-
bers who may be incapable of attending to business
through sickness, &c., and for securing at death a
payment for funeral expenses. The entrance fees are a
uniform rate of 2s. 6d., and at 21 years of age the con-
tributions are 6d. per week. Those above 21 pay
higher, according to the age at which tiiey enter.
Members who have been six months in the society
receive, when unwell, aliment at the following rates:
— 10s. a week for the first six months, 7s. 6iL for tho
next six months, and 5s. a week thereafter, with
medical attendance and medicine; and at the decease
of a member his representatives receive £10 as fune-
ral allowance ; on the decease of his wife he receives
£5. Members can also assure for double the above
named benefits. Meets every alternate Wednesday.

Instituted 1851.
To promote intercourse among natives of the two
counties, to encourage education therein, and to give
assistance in necessitous cases. Annual subscription,

The objects of this society are the relief of mem-

Admission restricted to burgesses, who are also sons
and grandsons either by father's or mother's side of
