By the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith,
and Empress of India. Her Majesty, the only child of His Royal Highness Edward, Duke of Kent (b. Nov.
2, 1767, d. Jan. 23, 1820, m. 1818 Viotoria-Mary-Louisa, h. Aug. 17, 1786, d. March 16, 1861, daughter
of Francis, Duke of Saxe-Coburg), fourth son of King George III., was born on the 24th May, 1819, suc-
ceeded to the Crown on the demise of her uncle, his late Majesty William IV., on the 20th June, 1837;
crowned 28th June, 1838 ; married Feb, 10, 1840, his Royal Highness Francis-Albert-Augustus-Charles-
Emanuel, Duke of Saxe, Prince of Coburg and Gotha, afterwards declared Prince Consort, who was born
August 26, 1819, and died December 14, 1861 ; and has issue —

Frederick III., Emperor of Germany, b. Oct. 18, 1831, d. June 15, 1888.

Maria-Charlotte-Louisa-Julia, i. December 1, 1844, eldest daughter of Christian IX. King of
Denmark, and has issue, Prince Albert- Victor-Christian-Edward, Duke of Clarence and Avondale,
h. January 8, 1864, d. January 14, 1892 ; Prince George-Frederick-Ernest-Albert, 6. June 3,
