The objects of this institution are the medical and
surgical treatment of poor children suflfering from non-
infectious diseases or accidents; to provide a dis-
pensary and furnish advice and medicine to those
■who cannot be received into the hospital ; to pro-
mote the advancement of medical science with refer-
ence to the diseases of children ; and to provide for
the clinical instruction of students, the training of
nurses for children during illness, and the instruction
of lady pupils in the care of sick children. The hos-
pital, which has now eighty beds, and the dispen-
sary are entirely supported by voluntary contribu-
tions. Patients admitted to the hospital on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, between 10 and
11 a.m., on production of an order signed by a
subscriber. Accidents or urgent cases admitted at
any hour by day or night without an order. Friends
admitted to see patients on Wednesdays, from 9 to
9.30 a.m., and Sundays, from 2.30 to 3 p.m. Visitors
admitted to the hospital on Tuesdays, Wednesdays,
Fridays, and Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m., but
Wednesdays and Saturdays are preferable.
The Dispensary is open daily at 10.30 for the
treatment of outdoor patients. No line is required
for the dispensary, it is enough that the child is sick
and poor.
GLASGOW MATERNITY OR LYING-IN
HOSPITAL.

The objects of this institution are— (1) To attend
to women in the hospital, and also at their own
homes during their confinement, and (2) to provide
a training school in practical obstetrics for medical
students, ladies' nurses, and midwives. The hospital
•was rebuilt in 1880, and is as complete as possible
both as regards construction and sanitary arrange-
ments. Patients in labour are admitted at once on
application at the hospital without any recommenda-
tion. Separate wards are provided for married
women, and also for others who may need special
treatment. Women suffering from any infectious
disease are not admitted. A committee of ladies
visit the hospital and assist the directors.
The directors have opened a branch place of call
at 445 St. Vincent Street. Patients are not received
into it, but are attended to from it at their own
homes.

THE GLASGOW CENTRAL DISPENSARY.
The object of the dispensary is to provide free
medical and surgical advice, and, when necessaiy,
medicine also to the sick poor. The premises are at
78 George Street, convenient to a distiict of the city
where such a charity is much needed.

FOR DISEASES AND INJURIES OF THE EYE.

Every subscriber of £1 Is. annually, and donor of
£5 in one sum towards the maintenance, shall have
the privilege of recommending three patients yearly,
with three additional recommendations for every
additional subscription of £1 Is., or donation of £5.
The number of new patients admitted to the bene-
fits of the Institution last year was 2787 ; of these
2334 were treated as out-door patients, while 453
were admitted into the house for important operations^
The Institution is open to out-door patients daily,
between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Cases of acci-
dent admitted at any hour. Operations performed
on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A course of Lectures
and Clinical Instruction for Medical Students is given
during the summer and winter se.ssions.
