PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY OF GLASGOW.
Instituted 9th November, 1802.
For tie advancement of the mathematical, physical,
and natural sciences, with their applications ; and to
promote the diffusion of scientific knowledge. Meets
fortnightly, from November to April inclusive, in their
Buildings, Adelaide Place, 207 Bath street. Posses-
ses an extensive scientific library. Consists of about
850 members and associates — honorary, corresponding,
and ordinaiy. Connected with the society are chemi-
cal, physical, biological, sanitary and social economy,
'and architectural sections. Library, 207 Bath st. ;

The above club is open to all members of the Scot-
tish Episcopal Church as under : — Patrons and pat-
ronesses who subscribe £1 Is. a year, and give a dona-
tion of not less than £5 towards the expense of
furnishing ; Honorary members, who pay a subscrip-
tion of £1 Is. a year; Members, communicant work-
ing men, who pay an entrance fee of Is. and a
subscription of 2d. a week ; Associates, non-com-
municants, who are nevertheless friendly to the prin-
ciples of the Book of Common Prayer — these pay the
same entrance fee and subscription as members, and
,are entitled to all the benefits of the club, but have
jno voice in its management. The club-room is com-
|fortably furnished, and provided with piano, bagatelle
tables, chess, draughts, &c., also a supply of news-
papers, books, and magazines. The secretary attends
on Tuesday and Saturday evenings to answer all
inquiries.

GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF GLASGOW.

For the advancement of geological science by
meetings for the reading of papers and the exhibition
of specimens; and by excursions to localities of geo-
logical interest. The publications of the leading geo-
logical societies of Great Britain, Europe, and America,
are regularly added to the Library, which contains a
large number of geological works. The Transactions
of the Society are published annually. Number of
members (exclusive of honorary and corresponding) at
1st March, 1886, 189. Annual subscription 10s.
The Society meets on the first or second Thursday
of each month from October to April, and for excur-
sions every second Saturday in April, May, and June.

The object of this Society is the promotion and
study of Archaeology, particularly in Glasgow and
the West of Scotland. Meetings are held in the
Society's rooms, 207 Bath Street, on the third Thurs-
day of November, December, January, February,
March, and April. The annual excursioa takes place
in August or September.
CLYDESDALE NATURALISTS' SOCIETY.
Instituted 6th September, 1883.
For the advancement of the study of Natural His-
tory in all its branches, by meetings for the reading of
papers and exhibition of specimens, and by excursions
to places of interest. Candidates for membership are
recommended by two members of the society. The
society meets in the Philosophical Society's Rooms,
207 Bath street, on the second Wednesday of each
month throughout the year at 8 p.m.
