COLQUHOUN BEQUEST FUND FOR
INCURABLES.
Founded in 1873 by tlie late Archibald Colquhoun,
Esq^., of Riddrie Park, merchant in Glasgow, its ob-
ject being the application of the free income of the
trust in '' the relief of poor persons residing in
Glasgow or its immediate neighbourhood who may
either have been dismissed as incurable from the
Glasgow Royal Infirmary or other hospitals in Glas-
gow, or who are afflicted with incurable disease, and
so destitute and helpless as to be proper objects of
charity." The capital of the trust amounts at present
to about ^22,000, and the income is administered by
a body of trustees, assisted by a staff of lady visitors.
The sum distributed for the jea,Y 1885-86 was about
^880, which was dispensed in amounts ranging from
£3 5s. to £13 each per annum. Contributions to-
wards either capital or revenue will be received by the
treasurers, J. & J. Boyd & Sliller, 95 Wellington
Street, Glasgow, who will also furnish information
as to the terms of the Trust Deed.
LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR,
ST. JOSEPH'S HOME FOR THE AGED.
180 Gaengad Hill.
This institution was founded at Glasgow in 1862,
and contains now 235 aged poor of both sexes.
The Sisters have no funds whatever; they support
the aged poor by whatever public charity affords, and
therefore most gratefully accept cast-off clothes, furni-
ture, donations in money, or anything that may be
offered. This house, being too small for the number
of applicants, would require to be enlarged, but tlie
Sisters having no funds for the purpose, beg to solicit
their benefactors to assist them in order to realize the
undertaking, for which donations or legacies will be
thankfully received.
For admission apply at the institution.
The House is open to visitors daily from 11 o'clock
a.m. till 4 o'clock p.m.
GLASGOW BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
For visitation of the destitute sick, and others in
extreme poverty.

KOBERTSON BEQUEST.
Founded by Miss Isobel Robertson, 5th August,
1844. The funds are to be distributed amongst (1)
ten decayed gentlewomen, who shall have been re-
siding for at least 10 years in Glasgow, who shall
not be less than 45 years of age, and shall never
have been married; (2) ten females each of whom
shall have, for at least seven years consecutively,
been a hired servant in one family in Glasgow, shall
not be under 50 years of age, shall never have been
married, and at the time of selection shall be out of
service. Amount of Pensions at present (1) £9,
and (2) £4 10s.

GLASGOW BROWNS' SOCIETY.
Members of this society must bear the name of
Brown, or be connected with persons of that name,
as husbands, or sons, or sons-in-law, or grandsons.
Each entrant shall contribute at least two guineas
on becoming a member, but a larger contribution
may be given by any one so disposed. Donations are
received from persons of any name, and every contri-
butor of one guinea, at least, shall be considered an
honorary member. The annual General Meeting is
held on the second Thursday of March; Managers'
meetings on the first Thursday of March, June,
Sep., and Dec. The annual produce of the capital
stock is from time to time applied towards relieving
necessitous members, or their widows or children, and
may be employed in placing the children of indigent
members at trades or schools.

SONS OF TEMPERANCE FRIENDLY SOCIETY.
Glj^sgow Grand Division.
This Society is composed entirely of total abstainers,
and is thus enabled to give the same benefits as non-
abstaining societies for a smaller contribution. Uni-
form entrance fee 2s. 6d., contributions from 4d. per
week according to age. Benefits 10s. weekly in sick-
ness, £10 at death, medicine and attendance free.

GLASGOW HUJIANE SOCIETY.

The society was instituted in 1790 for the purpose
of giving encomvigement to efforts for rescuing persons
from drowning on the Clyde. An officer is kept per-
manently stationed at the society's house in the Green,
provided with proper apparatus for saving life and
resuscitation. The society gives rewards in money,
and occasionally awards their medal, to persons who
have particularly distinguished themselves by their
efforts in saving human life.
