CITY OF GLASGOW NATIVE BENEVOLENT
ASSOCIATION.
Its object is to afford assistance to natives, and
widows and families of natives, of the city of Glas-
gow, who from reverses of fortune, or otherwise, have
been reduced to necessitous circumstances. A pay-
ment of £5 5s., either in one sum at entry or by five
successive yearly instalments of £1 Is., constitutes

This society was instituted in 1797 by several
gentlemen residing in or near Glasgow connected by
birth or otherwise with the parish of Eastwood, for
the purpose of holding a social meeting once a year,
and of collecting a sum of money for distribution
among the deserving poor of that parish. About
£130 is annually distributed at the end of December,
each recipient getting 12s. 6d. The annual meeting
is held on the second Wednesday of December, to
which all connected with the parish of Eastwood are
invited.

BLACK'S BEQUEST FOR DOMESTIC
SERVANTS.
Founded by Dr. James Black, sometime sm'geon in
Jamaica, afterwards residing in Glasgow, and who
died in 1834. The funds arc to be given to faithful
domestic servants settled in Glasgow or neighbour-
hood, who have been ten years or upwards in one
situation. Amount, £2 10s. per annum. There are
about 200 pensioners. Factors, Mitchells, Cowan, &

GLASGOW EAGLESHAM FRIENDLY AND
EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION.
The object of the association is the clothing and
educating of the poorer children, and relief of the
deserving native poor of the parish of Eaglesham.
