bationary Home, 17 Stirling Road. This Home ac-
jommodates 62 inmates. The Society's reformatory
ind industrial work is prosecuted at the Home, Loch-
purn, Maryhill, which gives accommodation for 120
nmates.

This Society, as a memorial of the revolt of the
Native Bengal Army, has, since 1858, done the un-
denominational work required to aid all missionaries
and female education workers in India, Ceylon, and
Burmab. Training their native Christian teachers,
compiling and printing, in all the native languages,
bhristiau school books, and general literature. Dr.
lohn Murdoch, from Glasgow, is the author of these
^ichool books, twelve millions of which are now in
ise. It also sells, by colporteurs, the Bible Society's
Dibles, the Religious Tract Society's publications, and
ts own works. Subscriptions and legacies are
irgently needed for so great a work. Society's finan-
jial year ends 31st March.

THE FERGUSON BEQUEST FUND.
Incorporated hy Act of Parliament.
The annual income of the Fund is for the main-
tenance and promotion of Religious Ordinances, and
Education, and Missionary operations, in the first
instance in the County of Ayr, Stewartry of Kirk-
cudbright, and Counties of Wigtown, Lanark, Renfrew,
and Dumbarton ; by means of payments for the
erection or support of Churches and Schools (except-
ing Parish Churches and Parish Schools) in connection
with. Quoad Sacra Churches belonging to the
Ebtablished Church, and with the Free Church, the
United Presbyterian Church, the Reformed Presby-
terian Church, and the Congregational or Independent
Church, all in Scotland, or any of them ; or in
supplement of the stipends of the Ministers of the
said Quoad Sacra, and other four Churches, and in
supplement of the salaries of Religious Missionaries
and Teachers of Schools of the said Quoad Sacra,
and other four Churches ; and for forming and
maintaining Libraries for the use of the general
public — such Missionaries, Schools, and Libraries
being under the management of members in full
communion with one or other of the said five Churches.

WORKING MEN'S EVANGELISTIC
ASSOCIATION.

This Society was instituted in 1870 by pious
operatives anxious to stem the tide of Popery in
Glasgow, and oifer effective opposition to the infidel's
propaganda coming to this city at set intervals from
London. They selected as the director of their mis-
sions Mr. Harry Alfred Long, author of " Family and
Personal Names." Under his direction above a
million of books, tracts, and pamphlets have been
issued. Their hall is also utilized to obtain employ-
ment for persons out of work, and in feeding and
clothing the destitute. Divine service is conducted
every Sabbath at 2 and 7 p.m. A prayer meeting is
held on Tuesday evenings, and lectures are delivered
in the course of the week. A Dorcas society acts
duricg the winter. The association consists of an
hon. president, J. N. Cuthbertson, Esq.; president,
Mr. Wm. M'Lay, and twenty-sis memibeis of com-
mittee. Subscriptions may be sent to treasurer, Mr.
Alexander Smith, 113 Main Street, Bridgeton, or to
secretary, Mr. Wm. Palmer, 126 Thistle street.
GLASGOW EMANCIPATION SOCIETY.
Having for its object the universal abolition of
slavery and the slave trade; the protection of the
rights of the aborigines in the British Colonies ; and
the improvement of the condition of our fellow sub-
jects, the natives of British India.
