GLASGOW OPHTHALMIC INSTITUTION
FOR DISEASES AND INJURIES OF THE EYE.

Every subscriber of £1 Is., annuall}-, and donor of
£5 in one sum towards the maintenance, shall have
the privilege of recommending three patients yearly,
with three additional recommendations for every
additional subscription of £1 Is., or donation of £5.
The number of new patients admitted to the bene-
fits of the Institution last year was 3391 ; of these
3054 were treated as out-door patients, while 337
were admitted into thehoutc for important operations.

The Institution is open to out-door patients daily,
between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Cases of acci-
dent admitted at any hour. Operations performed
on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A course of Lectures
and Clinical Instruction for Medical Students is given
during the summer and winter sessions.

Incorporated by seal of cause from the Magistrates
and Town Council, and supported by voluntary
contributions.
This institution was formed in 1805, for the cure
of unfortunate females. The directors are chosen
annually, and consist of one from the Clergy, one
from the Town Council, one from the Merchants'
House, one from the Trades' House, two from the
Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons, and six from
the general body of subscribers.

The object of the Choral Union is to cultivate
and diffuse the knowledge of, and taste for, Clas.sical
Music, and for this purpose frequent public perform-
ances are given, at -whicli the leading artists in the
country appear. Members meet for rehearsal on
the evenings of Monday and Wednesday during the
session in the Lesser City Hall, Albion Street.
Gentlemen and ladies admitted to membership by
application to ti.e tecretary. Gentlemen pay an
annual subscription of five shillings. Subscription
Concerts ate giveo during the season iu the City
Hall. Subscribers may enter at any time by apply-
ing to the treasurer, Mr. J. S. Fleming, 47 Oswald
Street, or to Messrs. Swan and Pentland, 49 Bu-

The object of the society is the study, with a view
to public performance, of classical music. The mem-
bers meet for rehearsal in the City Hall Saloon,
Candleriggs, every Tuesday evening from August to
April inclusive. Gentlemen pay an annual subscrip-
tion, and may be admitted at any time during the
session.
Ladies and gentlemen may become subscribers to
the concerts by payment of — for reserved seats in
area, £1 Is., or for reserved seats in galleries, los.;
entitling the subscriber to two tickets for each of
three oratorio concerts given by the society during
the currency of the subscription.
Subscribers may be enrolled at any time by apply-
ing to Mr. Robert Donaldson, 77 St. Vincent Street.
