THE INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHAB-
ITES FRIENDLY SOCIETY.
This society has for its object the relief of its
members who may be incapable of attending to busi-
ness, and for securing at death a payment for funeral
expenses. The sick allo^Yance is from 5s. to 15s. per
week. Funeral expenses from £b to £20, according
to age and payments. Branches in Glasgow : 11

WARDROFS BEQUEST.
Dated 2nd September, 1824, made by .James
Wardrop, coppersmith in Glasgow. The funds are to
be applied in connection with the Sanders' Mortifi-
cation, in educating and clothing an apprentice during
the last year of his apprenticeship. Amount, £3 12s.

ORPHAN AND DESTITUTE CHILDREN'S '
EMIGRATION HOMES.
City Orphaa Home, James Morrison Street (off
London St.), has accommodatioQ for 100 working
boys, night refuge for 60 homeless children, and
temporary shelter for 40 young women who are out
of employment, in all 200. Also mission hall to seat
500 for evangelistic services amongst the poorest.
Boys' Home, Cessnock House, Govan Road, has
accommodation for 66 boys.
Girls' Home, Newstead, Govan Road, has accom-
modatioa for 34 girls, in all 100 children. During
the last five years 360 destitute children have been
rescued. Most of these have been placed in good
homes in this country, or in Canada, and they are,
with very few exceptions, doing well.
Orphan Cottage Homes of Scotland to be built —
received towards this fund £5000, £20,000 required.
No one is called on for subscriptions to carry on
the work. All donations sent to Wm. Quarrier, 19
West Princes Street, Glasgow, will be duly acknow-
ledged in Daily Mail, every second Monday. A
yearly balance sheet is published, duly audited by a
qualified accountant. Any further information will
be obtained by application at the above address.
GLASGOW PAISLEY ASSOCIATION.

The association receives subscriptions, and expends
the interest derived therefrom, and other monies,
among natives of Paisley now residing in Glasgov?'
who the directors may consider most needful and
deserving.
EWING BEQUESTS.
Founded in 1860 by James Ewing of Strathleven.
The total amount of the bequests is £30,000, of which
£5,500, less legacy dot}', has been paid. The in-
come is divisible — one-third among decayed Glasgow
merchants, one-third in educating, training, and set-
ting in business their sons, and the remaining one-
third among their widows and daughters. Income
at present, about £540. Patrons, The Merchant,?'

TENNANT'S MORTIFICATION.
For the education of poor female children, and
granting pensions to several poor widows.

SOCIETY OF SONS OF MINISTERS OF THE
UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
Its object is to promote friendly intercourse among
the members of the society, and to afford to families
of ministers of the United Presbyterian Church,
whether deceased or living, its friendly assistance,
counsel, and moral influence, and also pecuniary aid
in circumstances in which it is required, as far as the
funds of the society will admit, and in such manner
as the directors shall deem expedient. President,
