COLLINS' SERIES O F VALUABLE AND POPULAR WORKS.
This Series is designed to embrace a variety of popular and interesting Works in
History, Biogkapht, Science, and Theoloqt, selected from the rich stores of
American and Continental as well as British Literature. The History of those
great events which effected mighty moral revolutions in the world, and the Bio-
graphies of those great men who were the chief actors in their accomplishment, will
form one department of the Series, while another will be occupied with the best
Theological treatises, both of a doctrinal and practical character, illusti'ative of the
great truths of Divine Revelation, and also of select Scientific treatises illustrative of
the works of God as unfolded in the discoveries of Science. The Works of recent
Travellers will also be introduced to illustrate the social state and moral condition
of the people in various countries. The works will be selected with a special refe-
rence to the spirit and character of the age, to expose and counteract error in its
various forms by a faithful exhibition of truth and of sound Scriptural principles.
No efforts will be spared to introduce into this Series Works, both original and
selected, of an interesting and instructive as well as elevating character. While
they are handsomely printed on fine paper and with good type, the price has been
made so low that many excellent and valuable Works, which from their high price
have been hitherto beyond the reach of the great body of the people, will now be
rendered accessible to them. The Publisher therefore trusts that, from the great
moderation in the price, and the superior character and intrinsic excellence of tlio
Works, this Series will both merit and obtain a liberal share of public support.
