The success which has attended this Institution has been so great that at
THE LATE INVESTIGATION
into its affairs, as at 31st December, 1846, the Directors were enabled to declare,,
out of two-thirds of the Surplus,
A BONUS OF TWO PER CENT,
per Annum during the last seven years, and a further addition during the next
seven years on the sum in the Policy, and on the previous additions, to these Policies
which shaU emerge before the next Investigation, at 31st December 1853, at the
same rate. A Policy for £1000 of seven years' duration is thus increased to £1 1 40 ;
and if it emerges before 31st December 1853, the date of the next Investigation,
a further annual addition of £22 1 6s. will be paid for each year's existence of the
Policy. In the same manner, a Policy of five years' duration for £1000 is increased
to ^ 1 100, and will receive, if it emerge before 31st December 1853, a further annual
addition of £22. These additions are exigible on all Policies emerging after five
years' duration.
To intending Assurers the present position of the Society affords a most advan-
tageous opportunity of connecting themselves with an office, in joining which, they
can with the greatest confidence rely on receiving the utmost benefits which can be
realised from their contributions,
