FOB, PREVENTING INCRUSTATIONS, AND REMOVING SEDIMENTARY DEPOSITS
IN
STEAM BOILERS.

DOUBLE PATENTED PURIFIER,
MADE APPLICABLE TO
STATIONARY, MARINE, LOCOMOTIVE,
AND ALL OTHER BOILERS,

C WALKER respectfully submits to the notice of parties using Steam Power, the
t above-named Apparatus, as the most efficient hitherto devised for the purposes
which it is intended to serve.
The injurious character of calcareous incrustations adhering to the plates of Steam
Boilers is too well known, and the calamitous effects resulting from them ai - e too fre-
quently witnessed to require comment. Impeding the transition of heat, they at once
detract from the evaporative effect of the fuel, and induce the rapid disintegration of the
boiler plates. Their ultimate consequences may be briefly stated to be " Waste of Fuel,''
" Diminution of the Strength and Premature Decay of Boilers," and " Explosion." These
evils may be obviated by the use of the Double Patented Purifier, which prevents the adhe-
sion to the boiler plates 01 the calcareous and mineral salts, precipitated from the water.
Independently of the advantages resulting from its use, in the economy of fuel and pre-
servation of the boiler, the cost of its application is compensated in a short time by the
saving effected in the labour and expense otherwise inevitably incurred, for the purpose
of removing, from time to time, the accumulations of injurious matter deposited from
the feed water.
C. Walker would also call attention to the simplicity of the Patented Double Purifier
as requiring no alteration, and which can be made to suit Boilers of every description,
and in any diversity of form : being placed outride, it can be applied by any one in a
short space of time, and requires a very trifling expense after application.
The merits of this valuable invention can be vouched for by numerous and respectable
parties who have practically tested its efficiency.
THE PATENT BLOW-OFF VALVE FOR STEAM BOILERS,
in connection with the above Apparatus, may also be applied.
