for the Second-Class Baths, bringing them within the reach of all, will, it is hoped, be
appreciated by the inhabitants of the City of Glasgow.
The Hydropathic treatment, or " Cold Water Cure," as it is called, has made a great
stir in the world; and notwithstanding the prejudices against it among certain medical
gentlemen and others, it is ridiculous to suppose it a mere chimera, when hundreds of
people recover, and live to tell of the immense service it has rendered them. Certain it
is, that Cold Bathing, either local or general, with proper exercise, careful living, an d
other such adjuncts, is a highly important remedy ; and he is the most enlightened
Physician who, while throwing aside old notions — no matter how venerable they may
have become from age, and which he knows to be erroneous — adopts a system, or the
useful parts of all systems, which he knows will benefit his fellow-creatures. Patients
can have the Water Cure at this Establishment, the charges for which will be from One
Pound to Five Shillings per Week, to suit circumstances, with daily attendance. The
Vapour Baths can be administered to parties unable to leave home, in their own dwell-
ings, by experienced persons.
