LIFE DEPARTMENT.
I^HE Business of this Office embraces every mode of Life Assurance, and the Rales of
Premium will be found essentially moderate.
Lives Diseased, or having a tendency to disease, may be assured with this Office
on payment of a proportionate extra Premium, which may, as to future payments, be-
come modified or reduced on evidence of the improved health of the party.
One-half only of the Annual Premium may be paid during the first five
years of Whole Life Policies, the other moiety of the Premium remaining a debt on the
Assurance.
To Policies effected in the Mutual Assurance Branch, a Bonus of Thirty-two per
Cent, on the Premiums which had then been paid was declared on 30th September,
1S49, for the seven years preceding; and additions on a similar principle will be subse-
quently apportioned to all Policies effected with a right to participation in Profits. A
Policy of not less than five years' standing, becoming a claim betwixt two periods of divi-
sion, is entitled to share in Profits according^to the number of years elapsed from the
previous apportionment.
