Prince Edward Island, may still be forwarded in closed mails by these Packets, if
specially addressed "via New York," or '■•via the United States;" but letters and
newspapers not so addressed will be sent in the Eegular Mails to Halifax by the
Packets proceeding from Liverpool via Halifax to Boston. The United States
Mail Packets, as well as the British Packets, will convey closed mails for Canada,
New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, and letters and news-
papers will be forwarded in such closed mails, if specially addressed u via New
York," or u via the United States." Letters for Canada, however, must, in addition,
bear the words, " by United States Packet." Letters, &c, for Bermuda and New-
foundland, will be forwarded only by the Packets proceeding to Boston ; the Mails
for Bermuda will be despatched from Halifax immediately after the arrival of the
Packet at that port, and those for Newfoundland will be despatched on the arrival
at Halifax of the homeward Packet from Boston.

Archipelago, East Indian, Sumatra, Borneo, the Molucca or Spice Islands, and
Philippines, no regular conveyance ; sent by merchant vessels, 8d. under \ oz.,
&c. ; by the Indian mails, if so addressed, 2s. 2d. by Marseilles, and Is. 4d. by
Southampton. Papers 2d. by ship ; 4d. by Southampton ; and 6d. by Marseilles.

Australia, payment obligatory. By Packet, via the Cape of Good Hope, on the 3d.,
1.20 p.m. of every alternate month, viz., February, April, June, August, October,
December ; and via Southampton and Singapore on the 3d of every alternate month,
1.20 p.m., viz., January, March, May, July, September, November. When the 3d
falls on a Saturday they are made up the previous day, 7.20 p.m. ; Is. under \ oz.,
2s. under 1 oz., &c. Or via Marseilles on the 7th of every alternate month, 7.20
p.m., except when the 7th falls on a Saturday, when the mails will be made up on
the following day, 7.20 p.m., Is. 10d., 2s. 3d., 4s. Id., 4s. 6d., 7s. 9d., under \,
\, f, 1, and \\ oz. respectively, or by Private Ship, 8d. under \ oz., &c. All Let-
ters and Newspapers, unless specially addressed via Marseilles, or by Private Ship,
will be forwarded by the Packets via the Cape or Southampton, according as they

Austrian Dominions. Payment optional, via Belgium and Prussia daily, 7.20 p.m.
(except Lombardy and the Venetian Provinces, which see), unless otherwise ad-

Is. 4cl., 2s. 3d., 3s. 7d., 4s. 6d., 6s. 3d., under J, |, f, 1, and 1J oz. respectively.

Azores, prepayment required, 6th, 16th, and 26th of each month, 1.20 p.m., via Lis-
bon, unless otherwise addressed, Is. 9d. under \ oz., 3s. 6d. under 1 oz., and so on ;
or by Brazil Packet, 8th of each month, 1.20 p.m., Is. lOd. under \ oz., 3s, 8d.

Bahamas, The, the 1st of every month, 1.20 p.m., except when the 1st falls on a

Balearic Islands, letters prepaid, forwarded daily through France ; or, if so ad-
dressed, sent by Southampton. Newspapers free.
Baltic, The. Letters for the British Fleet in the Baltic, mails will be made up from
time to time, as opportunities occur. Letters for soldiers and sailors serving in
the fleet, Id. under A oz., &c. ; commissioned or warrant officers, 6d. under \ oz.,
which must be paid in advance. Newspapers free.
