1. — A Total Eclipse of the Moon, May 1st, 1855, partly visible at Greenwich.
2. — A partial Eclipse of the Sun, May 15th, 1855, visible at Greenwich. Begins
on the Earth generally, May 16, 3 minutes past 12 a.m.; mean time at Greenwich,
in long. 78° 56' E. of Greenwich ; lat. 25° 33' N. Greatest Eclipse at 1 minute past
2 a.m., in long. 16° 27' E. of Greenwich, and lat. 63° 7' N. Ends on the Earth,
generally May 16th, at 4 o'clock a.m.', in long. 144° 25' W. of Greenwich, and lat.
60° 9' N.
3. — A total Eclipse of the Moon, October 25th, 1855, partly visible at Greenwich.
First contact with the penumbra at 45 minutes past 4 a.m. ; middle of the Eclipse, 2'J
minutes past 7 a.m.; last contact with the penumbra, 13 minutes past 10 a.m.;
mean time at Greenwich.
4. — A partial Eclipse of the Sun, November 9th, 35 minutes past 5 p.m. ; mean
time at Greenwich, in long. 171° 38' E. of Greenwich, and lat. 31° 21' south. Greatest
Eclipse at 17 minutes past 7 p.m., in long. 121° 5' E. of Greenwich; and lat. 62° 37'
S. Ends on the Earth generally, November 9th, 59 minutes past 8 p.m. ; mean
time at Greenwich, in long. 2° 34' E. of Greenwich; and lat. 68° 52' S.
