NEXT BONUS.
Whole Term Assurances, effected before the 31st December, 1853, will be entitled to
participate in the next Division of Profits, in 1855.
MANAGEMENT UNDER THE CONTROL OF ASSURED.— Assurers for £999
and upwards, are entitled to attend and vote at all the General Meetings.
THE TABLES OF PREMIUM combine economy with safety, and the Rates, com-
pared with those usually charged, give Assurers with this Society the benefit of a reduc-
tion equivalent to a large bonus.
CONVENIENCE OF THE ASSURED CONSULTED.— Premiums may be paid
either annually, half-yearly, or quarterly, or by any practical mode the Assurer may
select. Credit will be given, if required, for half the premiums, for the first five years.
PROMPT PAYMENT OF LOSSES.— Claims paid, if required, immediately after
proof of death.
Remuneration given to Medical Referees for their Reports.
FIRE ASSURANCES.
It is a principle to exclude all extremely hazardous risks.
The Society is, therefore, enabled to offer the advantage of lower premiums than are
now charged by other offices upon various important risks.
The Tables of Rates have been formed, after much consideration, upon safe and econo-
mical principles.
A separate account is kept for each class of Assurance, which will enable the Directors
to observe correctly the actual losses, as compared with the premiums received on each
risk, and to ascertain, from time to time, the minimum premiums that may with safety be
imposed.
One of the distinguishing regulations is, to relax the stringent terms which have recently
been imposed upon Warehousemen and others holding large premises.
Assurances may be extended to cover the risk of explosion, by the payment of a small
extra premium.
Assurances continued for six years will be allowed a reduction of 50 per. cent, on the
seventh year's premium.
Assurances paid in advance for seven years, will be charged six year's premium and
duty.
No charge made for policies transferred from other offices, nor for endorsements.
Losses settled liberally, and paid immediately on the amount being duly ascertained.
The progress of this Society in public estimation is best indicated by the amounts paid
to the Government for Fire Insurance Duty, viz., for the year
1847, £2,042
1848, 4,845
1849, 6,460
1850, £7,900
1851, 9,040
1852, 10,288
Persons desirous of Assuring may, at the London Offices, or of the Society's Agents,
