PREFACE.
The Publishers, in issuing the Thirty-third Edition of the Directoey, beg
to return their grateful thanks for the uninterrupted patronage and support so
long enjoyed. The Publishers having thought it desirable to have a List of
the names and addresses of the Commissioned Officers attached to the various
corps of the Lanarkshire Kifle, Artillery, and Military Engineer Volunteers,
obtained the necessary information from official sources ; and they have now
the pleasure of refemng to the very extensive list published, it being as
complete and correct as the returns called for permitted. The Publishers have
also added, in connection with the Commission Table, published last year for
the first time, a concise but comprehensive Interest Table, which will be found
useful in the Counting House. The Directory for the current year, exclusive
of Advertisements, has increased in matter over last issue by 40 pages, arising
from the insertion of names and addresses of the Volunteer Corps' List, addi-
tional information in the Appendix, and a large increase of names in the
General, Street, and Commercial Directories, thus rendering the volume more
valuable to the public. The Work has been prepared with the usual care and
attention, and, as opportunity offers, every means will be employed to increase
and extend its usefulness.
The Publishers owe their thanks to the Gentlemen connected with the
Local Institutions of the City, for their promptitude and kindness in correcting
the lists, thus giving to the public a very valuable appendage to the Directory.
For List of Volunteer Corps see beginning of volume.
