Millgate Union Catalogue of Walter Scott Correspondence

Printed Sources

For letters printed, in whole or in part, in the twelve-volume collected edition of Scott's letters edited by Sir Herbert Grierson and others between 1932 and 1937, a volume and page reference is provided in the Print Location field, preceded by the abbreviation SL. The abbreviation JCC is used for references to the Index to the twelve-volume Letters published by J C Corson in 1979. The references to the print locations of published letters not included in the Grierson edition have, as far as possible, been given short titles or other abbreviations designed to be self-evident, but the following list of all printed sources cited in the Print Location field can be consulted in case of doubt. The list is divided into three parts: (a) full citations for the Grierson edition of Scott letters and the Corson index; (b) a list of other books containing letters to or from Scott; (c) a list of newspapers and periodicals containing such letters.
