A miscellaneous collection of 205 books and pamphlets belonging to Rt Hon Dr Arthur Woodburn (1890-1978), Labour politician and Secretary of State for Scotland 1947-50 and former Trustee of the Library. It comprises items relating to the Labour Party, as well as music and travel ephemera, and books in French and Italian. OrganisationThe books have been catalogued individually and have the shelfmark 'Woodburn.'. AcquisitionThe printed material was received as part of a bequest of Woodburn's personal papers to the Library in 1979. Related collectionsWoodburn's papers are held at Acc.6276 and Acc.7656. Woodburn also donated a collection of around 70 posters from the Soviet Union, issued between 1919 and 1930, after his visit there in 1932 (shelfmark P.137/1). A few relate to the Russian Civil War, but most deal with economic and social issues of the 1920s. References |
