Description

A collection of around 400 English-language editions and foreign translations of works by the author Lady Mary Stewart (1917-2014). Stewart was a novelist who developed the romantic mystery genre and wrote children's books and poetry, but is best known for her historical fiction, most notably the 'Merlin Trilogy' series. She married a Scottish academic, Frederick Stewart, who became an eminent geologist, and from 1956 onwards they were based in Scotland. The languages covered in the collection include Finnish, Japanese and Russian.

Acquisition

The collection was donated by Lady Stewart between 1988 and 2000.
