Description

A collection of 835 items in 437 volumes from the archive of the civil engineering firm of Robert Stevenson (1772-1850), his three sons Alan (1807-1865), David (1815-1886) and Thomas (1818-1887), and later generations of the family. The collection's particular strength is in 19th-century engineering pamphlets on lighthouses, canals, harbours, navigation and railways. There are also many monographs on lighthouses.
