Miller Parker Collection

Description

A collection of 110 wood engraved blocks and tools from the studio of the Scottish wood engraver Agnes Miller Parker (1895-1980). The blocks were used in the following published works: 'Elegy in a country churchyard', 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles', 'Forest giant', 'Animals under the rainbow' and 'Poems of William Shakespeare'. There are also blocks for Christmas card illustrations and miscellaneous prints. Some of the blocks were also printed for the Fleece Press book on Agnes Miller Parker with text by Ian Rogerson and John Dreyfus.

Organisation

Collection-level record only, the collection has been assigned the shelfmark 'Park.'. An inventory of the blocks is available on request.

Acquisition

The collection was deposited by Agnes Miller Parker's niece Mrs Anne D Quickenden in 1981, along with Parker letters, sketchbooks and a large quantity of prints.
