Description

A collection of 161 volumes comprising mainly British and Continental imprints, chiefly of the 18th and the 19th century, but including a number of earlier works, which belonged to Alexander Monro primus (1697-1767), Professor of Medicine at Edinburgh University, and his descendants. The collection was formerly in the Monro (Munro) family library in Auchinbowie (Auchenbowie) House, Stirlingshire.

The books have been catalogued individually and have the shelfmark 'Monro.'.

Acquisition

The collection was presented to the Library in 1959 by Lt Colonel AGF Monro.
