Hay Collection

Hay Collection

This collection of 45 books is from the library of the Scottish poet, George Campbell Hay (1915-1984). Hay was a key figure in the interwar Scottish Renaissance movement. He wrote in all three of Scotland's principal literary languages, but is best known for his Gaelic poetry. The collection consists mainly of poetical works in a number of languages, including Gaelic (Scottish and Irish), Scandinavian and Greek.

The books have been catalogued individually and have the shelfmark 'Hay.'.

The collection was purchased by the Library in 1989, in the course of the acquisition of manuscripts relating to Hay between 1985 and 1989.
