Creswick Collection

Description

A collection of 62 books and six microfilms of early editions of the letters of Madame de Sévigné (1626-1696), and of the works of her cousin Bussy-Rabutin (1618-1693), with other related material. The books were part of the personal collection of Dr Harry Richardson Creswick (1902-1988), Bodley's Librarian from 1945 to 1947, and Librarian of the University of Cambridge from 1949 to 1967.

Organisation

The books have been catalogued individually and have the shelfmark 'Cres.'.

Acquisition

The collection was presented to the Library by Dr Creswick in 1981.
