A collection of 11 volumes relating to the descendants of Isabella Burns Begg (1771-1858), youngest sister of the poet Robert Burns. After the death of their father, Isabella was brought up by her brother, Robert. She was thought to bear a strong resemblance to her famous sibling, and as such was regarded as the gatekeeper to his memory, having many anecdotes about him from her childhood. Most volumes in the collection carry inscriptions by members of the family to other members of the family. OrganisationThe books have been catalogued individually and have the shelfmark 'B. Begg.' AcquisitionThese volumes were originally part of a collection photographs, press-cutting and letters relating to the Burns Begg family, donated to the Library in 1995.
