And Ireland to day with respect does recall, The men who have gallantly died, In Art or in science with word or with pen, Her sons been fearless and bold, And I will to-night sing in praise of the men.. Whose names are in letters of gold. On Fontenoy's plain stood the Irish Brigade, While cannons were booming around. At the word of command not a man was afraid? For ages their praise shall resound. Unheeding the battle to victory they went, And Ireland remembers to-day The deeds of her sons she to victory they went, And who proved to be first in the fray, Long may we have men who with courage and skil No nation on earth may unfold. The "Irish Brigade, who fought with a will, The names are in letters of gold On tablets of love are engraven the names Of men of such paramount worth, As Goldsmith and moor, whoes poetical aims Still ranks with the finest on earth. Burk Gratten and Sarsfield, Fitzgerald aud Swift, Were men whoes bright intellect shone, That loomed dear old Ireland upon. Then Balff, the composer Woolf, Tone, and the erest. Were men who were honet ,and bold, We are proud of still though they're now the blessed Their names are in letters of gold.
