(«) No retaining tee to be paid to an Officer after
his remoTal from the Sneclal Keserve for
misconduct or for any other caase which,
in the opinion of the Adrolralty, renders
him ineligible.
(/) A retaining fee, may, however, be paid, if due,
to the legal repreReniatlve of an Officer who
dies while a member of the Special Keserve.
HIS MAJESTY, having taken the said Memorial
into consideration, was pleased, by and with th<t
advice of His Privy Council, to approve of what Is
therein proposed.
AMD the Kight Honourable the Lords Commis-
sioners of the Admiralty are to give the necessary
directions herein accordingly.

REGULATIONS FOR HIS MAJESTY'S LEVEES AT
ST. JAMES'S PALACE.
At all Levees, which will be held at 12 o'clock noon.
Cards of Admission will be required, whether for
Presentation or Attendance, as the numbers at each
of these ceremonies must be limited.
The following are the rules to be observed,
ATTBNDAirCES AMD PBBSBNTATIONS.
All Officers, whether active or on the retired lists,
of the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines, of what-
ever rank, will communicate with and obtain their
cards from the Private Secretary to the First Lord of
the Admiralty. All Civil Officers of the Admiralty
will follow the same rule. Application should be
made when the date of the Levee, for which a card is
desired, has been announced In the press by the
Lord Chamberlain but not before.
The names both for attendance and presentation
must be received at the Admiralty not later than
eight days prior to the date of each Levee.
Oaoasions on which Officers may be presented by the
First Lord of the Admiralty.
1.— On receiving a Commission In the Royal Navy.
2. — On promotion to the rank of Commander, or to
corresponding rank in other branches of the
Service, and after that on every step.
Retired officers are not presented on receiving a
step in rank.
3. — On appointment to the command of a ship.
4.— On appointment to the command of a station or
squadron, or to a principal post at the
Admiralty.
B.— On return from active service during War, or
from any special service abroad, or on return
from the command of a station or squadron.
6.— On appointment to one of the Royal Yachts, or as
Alde-dc-Camp to the King.
7.— On appointment to or promotion In any Order,
when not personally Invested with the Insignia
by His Majesty.

The QUEEN'S most excellent Majesty In Council.
Whebeas there was this day read at the Board a
Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords
Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 8th day
of May 1891, in the words following, viz. :—
•' Whereas It has been deemed advisable, in the
Interests of your Majesty's Service, that the custody,
&c., of Naval Ordnance Stores should be transferred
to the Admiralty ; and whereas it is also deemed
necessary that certain Officers, and Warrant Officers
of Your Majesty's Ordnance Store Department
should be transferred to the Admiralty for the con-
duct of the duties connected with the transferred
Ordnance Stores.
" We beg leave most humbly to recommend that
Your Majesty will be graciously pleased, by your
Order In Council, to sanction the following rates of
(jay and retirement to the Army Officers who may
be appointed to the Naval Ordnance Department.
The scale of pay to be as follows :—
" Naval Ordnance Officer, £600 by £30 annnally, to
£70U, with an addltloual £100 a year to the
OUoar lu charge at WoolwtoD ArfiiuiBl.
" Deputy Naval Ordnance Officer, £425 by £20
annually, to £S26.
"Assistant Naval Ordnance Officer, £260 by £16
annually, to £350.
" The above Officers, when quarters are not pro-
vided, to receive, in addition to these rates of pay,
£100, £76, and £50 a year, according to their respective
grade.
" When on Foreign service they will receive the
special Colonial allowances granted under Admiralty
Regulations, and, when quarters are not provided,
such house allowances as may be flxed by the
Admiralty with the concurrence of the Treasury.
" Naval Ordnance Officers.
"(a) An Assistant Commissary General of Ord-
nance, having the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel,
the maximum pay of the Office.
"(6) An Assistant Commissary General of Ord-
nance, with the rank of Major, the minimum
pay of the Office.
" Deputy Naval Ordnance Officers.
" (o) An Assistant Commissary General of Ord-
nance, with the rank of Major, the maximum
pay of the Office.
"(<1)A Deputy CommlHsary General of OrU-
uauoe, the ailulmam pay of the Udlae,
