BUTTONS.
Class I.
To be gilt, same design as worn by Officers, except
that the crown and anchor is to be surrounded by a
plain rim.
The sizes of buttons are to be —

Buttons on Blue Cloth and Serge Trousers are to
be blach: ivory (plain), j J inch.
Buttons on White Trousers are to be of white

Buttons on Blue Jean Combination Suit are to be

Class II.
Overcoats.— Black horn crown and anchor buttons

Boy Artificers to wear same as Class I., except
that brass buttons are to be worn instead of gilt on
cloth and tartan garments (the brass buttons to be
retained when Boy Artificers are rated Artificers 5th
Class and until they are rated Artificers 4th Class) ;
but black horn buttons will be worn on serge garments .
Ofllcers' Stewards and Cooks. 1st Class, with five
years' service as such, are to wear gilt buttons In
lien of black horn.
Petty Officers with over 4 years' service as Petty
Oflncer. Shipwrights 5th Class, also Engine Room
Artificers 5th Class and Electrical Artificers 6th
Class if direct entries or transferred from R.N.V.R.
are to wear gilt buttons.
Pensioner Coast Guard Force.— Gilt buttons with
crown and anchor and letteis " C. G."
OVERCOAT.
All Classes.
As supplied through the Victualling Yards.
Note.— iVb badge* except those denoting rating {em-
broidered in red) are to be worn on the overcoat.
APRON.
Classes I. and III.
White in colour, o optional pattern,
DUCK BAG.
Class II.
As supplied through the Victualling Yards.
WAISTBELT;
Class II.
To he of blue webbing, approximately 2i inches wide
and of approved pattern only, as supplied from the
Victualling Yards.
REaULATIONS FOR BADGES OF RATINO
AND DISTINCTION.
Chief Petty Officers will not wear badges of rating
The rating is denoted by their wearing distinctive cap
badges.
Distinctive badges denoting special qualifications or
duties are to be worn by them on each side of the
collar of the long jacket.
They will not wear good conduct badges.
Engine Room Artificers will not wear any badges.
Petty OflicerB and Men are to wear the badges denoting
rating and good conduct, and special qualilications
to which they are entitled, as hereinafter cfescribed.
Badges denoting rating are to be worn on the left arm,
and those indicating special qualifications or duties on
the right arm. in the position described in sketch.
Although Officers Stewards and Cooks. 1st class, of
over five years service as such, are allowed to wear
the Cap Badge authorised for ratings wearing
Class I Uniforms, they are to wear their distinguish-
ing badges on the right arm, as laid down for Petty
Officers and Men, and not on the collar. Shipwrights
5th Chi;ss are allowed to wear gold collar distiiiftioii
l.adges.
The Crown, as tlie emblem of autliority, is combined
with all Petty Officers' and Instructors' badgers— as well
as the badges for Regulating Branch.
All Petty Officers, Seamen, and Marines who are
temporarily employed on Regulating Branch , or patrol
duties, are to wear the Naval Patrol Armlot on tlie
left cuff whilst actually on duty.
