Greenwich Hospital.
Admission of Boys into Orphanages,
Schools, or other Institutions, at the
Expense of Greenwich Hospital Funds.
The Admiralty have power to admit into Orpnanages, etc.,
Sons 01 deceased or incapacitated warrant officers, second mates oil
Coast Guard Cruisers, non-commissioned officers, petty officers, and
men of the Eoyal Navy and Marines (and of men of the Eoyal Naval
Eeserve, killed or drowned in the service of the Crown).
Cases are considered according to the length, nature, and merit
of the fathers' services, in the following order: —
(1) Total orphans.
(2) Orphans. Father killed, drowned, or deceased on duty ;
mother unable to look after the children.
(4) Exceptional cases.
Applications are not received until the candidates are 7f years
of age, except under special circumstances.
Boys will be examined periodically as to their physical condition
and if fit and desirous for sea service, they will be transferred to the
Eoyal Hospital School, Greenwich; otherwise they will be retained
until 14 years of age.
Forms will be sent on application to the Director of Greenwich
Hospital., Admiralty, S.W.I.
