SCOTTISH SAILORS AND SOLDIERS.
DUNBLANE, SCOTLAND.
(Being the Scottish National Memorial to Queen Victoria and to the Sailors and Soldiers
of Scotland who died in the recent South African War.)

and others representing Scotland, the Navy, and the Army.

This School will afford —
A thorough elementary education ; and
In exceptional cases, a higher education for boys between 14 and 16,
of a character giving definite preparation in special subjects for the
practical work of life.
Admission is open to (a) the sons of soldiers who are serving or who have
served in Scottish Regiments ; (&) sons of Scotsmen who are serving or who have
served in any Regular branch of the Naval or Military Forces ; and (e) sons of
Scotsmen who, while serving in any other branch of the Naval or Military Forces,
have been employed on active service. The preference in admission will be
regulated as follows : —
1st. Nominated boys.
2nd. Orphans.
3rd. Those whose fathers have been killed in action or died on foreign or
home service.
4th. Those who have lost their mothers and whose fathers are serving
abroad.
5th. Those whose fathers are ordered on service abroad and whose
parents have other children to maintain.
6th. Those of sailors and soldiers generally. *
Nominations will be subject to the selection of the Governing Body and will be
given in accordance with the sums subscribed as laid down in the rules.
One nomination will be given to the Royal Navy for every £250 subscribed.
The right of nomination on behalf of the Royal Navy will be exercised as may be
directed by the Admiralty.
All information can be obtained from the Commandant.

Description | These lists covering 1913, 1914, 1918, 1919, 1920, 1939 and 1940 were produced monthly. From mid-1870 to March 1924 navy lists were released both quarterly and monthly. The complete series at the National Library of Scotland runs from August 1870 to June 1940, but does not include monthly lists for those months covered by quarterly lists. |
