HAWKINS TRUST.
For the Relief of Widows of Captains, Commanders, and
Lieutenants of the Royal Navy.
The income of this Fund is appropriated every year in the month of
June in donations of £10 each to 43 Widows.
If there he not 43 applicants, grants may be increased to the extent
of £30.
Applications to be made annually in April.
Only Widows of Officers of the above ranks are eligible to {receive
grants.
COLONEL KELLY HOLDSWORTH TRUST.
For the benefit of the Widows and Orphans of Naval Officers of and!
above the rank of Commander (Executive Branch).
The income of this Fund is appropriated every year in the month of I
December. Applications to be made annually in October.
HICKES TRUST.
For the Relief of Poor Boys and Girls, preference being given to
the Orphans of Seafaring Men.
In time or Peace., one-half the income of this Fund is devoted to I
apprenticing 10 girls annually to useful trades (in the months of May and I
November), and one-half to training and fitting out boys for the sea.
In time or War, the whole income of the Fund is devoted to training I
and fitting out boys for the sea.
Applications for girl apprenticeships to be made not later than April i
and October. Ages 14 to 17.

For Boys of Good Character desirous of a Sea Life.
The Society annually trains about 260 boys of good character for a j
sea life only, and of this number about one-half enter the Royal Navy. 1
From 17-56 to 1919 over 67,830 boys have been sent to sea, of whom
29,499 joined the Royal Navy.
Candidates are trained, clothed and maintained free of all expense to *
parents or guardians.
Requirements of candidates —
Age, between 14 and 16 years.
Height, not less than 4 feet 10 inches, without shoes.
Must have parents' consent.
