"Junior Service" for Accountant Officers paid at the old scale allowed to reckon —
Under 11 years' service in Senior Rank one-balf Junior Service.
Above 11 ,, ,, all Junior Service which is allowed to count.
§ Engineer and Accountant Officers passed over for unsatisfactory conduct or failure to
qualify for promotion to the Senior Grade, but who may subsequently be promoted, shall
not count their Junior Service subsequent to the date of being passed over. (Order in
Council. 17 September, 1885).
An Officer passed over, but ultimately promoted, may, however, be allowed, at the dis-
cretion of the Admiralty, to count his junior service subsequent to the date of his promotion
to the senior grade (Order in Council, 11 May, 1895).
* Chaplains and Naval Instructors who have not completed 3 years' service, may, under
Order in Council of 21 February, 1874, receive half-pay at the rate of 6s. a day, if unwell or
unable to obtain employment, provided they have not declined or avoided service, and that
their character has been satisfactory. The grant of half-pay to be at the discretion of the
Admiraltv.
