ROYAL NAVAL LAY READERS' SOCIETY
(Formerly Royal Naval Scripture Readers' Society.)
President — Admiral Sir Henry K. Kitson, K.B.E., C.B. (retd.).
Vice-President and Chairman — The Ven. Archdeacon Chaplain of the Fleet.
This Society (founded in 1860) maintains a staff of carefully trained Laymen
of the Anglican Church, who visit H.M. Ships, Naval and Marine Barracks and
Hospitals in the chief Naval Ports at home.
The Society is officially recognised by the Admiralty and ft nou> appeals
to the Service for financial help. The serious increase in post-war expenses
has not been met by a corresponding increase in receipts, and the Society is in
urgent need of a larger income.
The Readers work under the direction of the Naval Chaplains and find
many opportunities of getting into close touch with Service men and of delivering
their message.
Subscriptions and Donations may be sent to —
Hon. General Secretary,
Chaplain's Office,
H.M. Dockyard, Portsmouth.
