Committees of Management.
The Central Committee consists of The Governors, The President and the Honorary Treasurer, who
are ez-officio members, and 18 Ordinary Members, elected as follows : —
(1) 3 Officers of the rank of Lieut. -Commander or above, nominated by the Commanders-in-Chief
cf the various commands, as the Admiralty shall from time to time direct.
(2) S Chief Petty Officers, Petty Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers or Men, of whom 1 shall be
an ex-service Rating elected by each of the Local Committees of Portsmouth, Devonport and
Chatham, from amongst the members of the respective local Committees.
The Local Committees consist of 30 Ordinary Members (25 of whom are serving Ratings and 5 ex-service
Ratings), and 4 Advisory Members being Officers of the rank of Lieut.-Commander and upwards who
are nominated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Port which the Committee represents*
The Primary Beneficial Objects as laid down by tlie Royal Charter are:—
(a) To provide relief in cases of necessity or distress to those who have served or
are serving as Chief Petty Officers, Petty Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers
or other Ratings in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Naval Reserve and
Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve particularly those who have served during the
late War, or in connection therewith.
(b) To make provision of training for such persons for civil life, and assistance in
order that they may obtain suitable employment after leaving the service.
(c) To make contributions either directly or through the agency of other
benevolent or educational institutions to the care, training, maintenance and
welfare of the families and dependants of such persons in cases of necessity or
distress.
