Surveying — An allowance at the rate of 6d., Is., or Is. 6d. a day may
be granted, at the discretion of the Admiralty, to certain Petty
Officers and Seamen and Non-Commissioned Officers and men of
the Royal Marines serving in Surveying Ships for the performance
of minor surveying duties
Tool Money to Joiners, Leading Carpenter's Crew and Carpenter's Crew,
and to Carpenter Ratings in the R.N.A.S. (with substantive pay
not exceeding 4s per diem), on its being certified that they have
provided themselves with a complete set of tools. (Skilled Artificers
not to receive the allowance. King's Regulations, Art. 1457)
