852 DKESS REGULATIONS: OFFICERS, ROYAL MARINES.
Undress sword knot for use with undress sword
belts to be the same as described in paragraph 29.
To be worn loose.
4 1. Trousers.— Blueeloth, with a scarlet welt J inch
wide down each side seam.
Tartan may be substituted for cloth in hot weather.
White drill or duck trousers without welts are
worn on certain stations in hot weather.
Black leather foot-straps are to be worn when
Wellington boots are worn.
45. Tunic— Scarlet cloth, single breasted, edged
with white piping down front, with eight buttons
up the front at equal distances, skirts closed behind
with two back slashes, with three large regimental
buttons on each, the slashes and back skirts edged
with white piping. Collar of blue cloth, square in
front, with a row of jj inch gold wire lace along the
top and ends inside white edging, and tracing of
fold Russia braid along the bottom of the collar;
'ield Otlicers to have eyes of gold Russia braid on
i he collar below the wire lace. The Corps' badge at
I inch from each end of the collar, and resting the
thickness of the Russia braid from the bottom of
tlic collar. Shoulder-straps of twisted round gold
cord lined with scarlet cloth, small button in top loop,
badges of rank in silver. Round cuffs of blue cloth 3|
inches deep, with one band of i-inch gold wire laee on
the top edge of the cuff, edged with white piping along
the top. On each curl a blue cloth slash with three
points edged with white pi ping, except along the fore-
arm seam; the slash to be 6 inches long at the forearm
seam and ti| inches at the end points of the opposite
side, 2 inches broad at the narrowest parts and 2j
inches at each of the three points. On each slash t here
arc three large regimental buttons at equal intervals;
each button is surrounded by i-inch gold wire lace,
beginning and ending at the forearm seam and form-
ing a triangle at the opposite side of the button. A
light of blue cloth to be shown between the strips of
gold lace from the button to tho forearm seam, the
light to be ra inch broad at tho forearm seam.
The white tunic to be of the same pattern and of
tho same material as described in paragraph 31,
but to have live large regimental buttons down the
front.

60. Buttons (special). - Gilt on gilding metal,
Laurel surrrunding a circular scroll on which are
the words " Royal Marines," an anchor and crown
in centre.
61. Cap and White Cover.— As In paragraph 19.
6'2. Field Service Cop.— (Optional) As described in
paragraph 20.
63. Frock.— As described in paragraphs 21 and 21a.
except b -it-tons will be of special pattern, and Frock
made of blue Tartan No. 2. No badges of rank.
64 Frock Coat.— As in paraeraph 22, but large
outtons (special) down the fro it and smill buttons
(special i on tne cuffs and shoulder-straps. Shoulder-
straps to bo sewn into shoulder seam. No badges
of rank. Material, No. 1 hlue cloth.
65. Oreat Coat. — Blue cloth, single breasted, with
6 inch box pleat in back, to reach within 1 foot of
ground. Stand and fall collar bi inches over all,
fastened with hook and eye and fitted with detach-
able tab. Round cuffs stitched down, 5| inches
deep. Two pockets with flaps at the waist in front,
tab and button. A slit in left side for hilt of sword
to pass through. One row of five large gilt buttons
(special i down the front. A cl.ith back-strap sewn
into the side seams, fitted with two bUck buttons
to confine coat at waist. Shoulder-straps of same
material as the garment, seamed into the sleeves
and fastened with a small gilt button at top. No
badge of rank.
Cap?. —Same cloth as coat, 22 inches long in front,
3 small gilt buttons ' special) up front, fastened
at neck with hook and eye.
Groat Coat in marching order will be worn en
banderole.
66. Mess Jacket.— As in paragraph 38, but the
jacket to be of blue No. 1 serge. The badge will
bean embroidered grenade on etch side of collar.
No badge of rank. Buttons (special).
Mess Vest.— As in paragraph 38, but made of No,
1 blue serge. Depth of opening to be 10j inches.
Width of opening 5J inches. Buttons (special)
White Mess Jacket.— As in 38. Badges, gilt metal
grenades. Buttons (special!.
White Mess Vest.— As in 38. ButtODs (special).
67. Sword.— As in paragraph 41.
Scabbard.— Si eel, as in paragraph 27.

with scarlet cloth piping down the front ; scarlet

round top with gold cord and traced inside with
gold braid, and gold braid on collar seam ; an em-
broidered gold grenade (mounted on scarlet cloth)
2J inches long ai each end, l-J inches from inside
edge of ,'old braid and placed midway between the
top and bottom braids; nine large gilt buttons
(special) up front ; skirts square iu front. Back
skirt piped down centre with scarlet cloth (same
width as front edging); gold cord sewn on back
skirts to imitate slashes with two points, the
bottom of the cord to be lj inches up from bottom
of skirt, three large buttons on back of each skirt,
otio opposite ea< h point and one on waist earn;
cr w's tout of gold cord on sleeve with eye at top,
7£ inches up from bottom of sleeve and traced in-
side and outside with gold braid. One inside
pocket in left skirt. Shoulder-straps (Orris lace),
as described in paragraph 31. with no badges of
rank.
White Tunic — Similar to that described in para-
graph 3), made of fine white di ek, buttons of
special pattern and no badge, of lank.
71. Whistle.— As in paragraph 15a, blue cord.
72. Bojts. — As in paragraph 7 (d) and (e).
Wellington boots are optional.
