* The condition of one year's service is not applicable in cases whore the Special Rates am payable
t If retired on or after 1st April, 1896, (10th January, 1910, in the case of Chief Schoolmasters' with the
substantive, hoaorary or relative rank of Lieutenant. Carpenter Lieutenant or Engineer Lieutenant, the rates are
the same as for Junior Lieutenants ; but if promoted to the rank of Lieutenant after retirement, under the
provisions of Order-in-Council of 24th April, 1902, the ordinary rates are those applicable to the rank and seniority
of the Officer on the Active List. The widow of a Commissioned Warrant Officer of three years' seniority who
dies while on the Active List after attaining the age for optional retirement, is eligible, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, for a pension on the scale applicable to Junior LieutenantB. (See Art. 1983 A, CI. 2a of the Bang's
Regulations.) .
} The widows and children of Royal Marine Gunners are awarded Pensions and Compassionate
Allowances on the same scales and under the same Regulations as the widows and children of Warrant
Officers of the Royal Navy.
