Convalescent Home,
Osborne, Isle of Wight,
For Officers of the Navy and Army, present'
to the Nation by His late Majesty
King Edward VII.

Osborne is open for the reception of convalescent officers of ;
Navy and Army. Officers will be received at Osborne on the re«
mendation of the Director-General of the Medical Department of u
respective Services, to whom all applications for admission shouk
addressed.
As regards the Navy, medical officers at home and abroad j
•ubmit the names of officers for whom they advise treatment
Osborne to the Medical Director-General of the Navy.
The accommodation at Osborne, which will be divided eqtfi
between the two Services, will provide for 43 officers, 5 of wl
may bo accompanied by their wives. Children will not be alio
to live in Osborne.
The entire stoppage to be paid will be 2s. fid. per diem for i
officer and his wife.
Medical attendance is free ; but in certain eases requiring niaMf
special nursing or other special measures, a charge will be made
cover the cost.
The duration of the stay of officers at Osborne will be determi
by the Medical Director-General of the Navy, who will be guide<
the reports received from the Medical Officer at Osborne.
Retired officers of the Navy and Army are admitted into Osb
only under the following conditions: —
a. If there is a vacant room at Osborne and there u
pressure for admission of officers on the Active Lil
b. That the disease or injury from which the officer is si
ing is "directly attributable to the Service."
c. That the officer has retired from the Service within
years from the date of the application for admissid
d. That the Director-General of the Service concerned ii
sole judge of the fitness of the case (medically)
admission.
