2. To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty if found physically unfit to serve.
3. To have the option of retiring at any age at the
discretion of the Admiralty.
4. (<i) Commanders over 40 years of age to be
allowod on retirement to receive, at their option,
either the active half-pay of that rauk or the retired
pay provided by the Regulations.
(6) Commanders under 40 years of age to receive on
retirement the active half pay they are entitled to at
the date of retirement.
5. Commanders retired from that rank may, by
Admiralty permission rise one step in rank, If, before
retirement, they had served the time to qualify them
for promotion ; if not bo qualified for promotion they
may be allowed, at the discretion of the Admiralty, to
aisume the rank of Retired Captain on attaining
IB years' seniority irrespective of qualifying service.
6. In the case of Officers promoted to the rank of
Commander on the Active List after 19th March, 1908,
Commanders retired from that rank may be granted the
rank of Retired Captain, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, provided they have served the time to
qualify them for promotion ; but such step will not be
given before they attain the age of 45.

2. To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
3. To have the option of retiring at the age of 40, at
the discretion of the Admiralty.
4. Oflicers who have not reached the optional
age may, at the discretion of the Admiralty, be
allowed to retire voluntarily when the state of the
list admits of such retirements ; subject to the
restriction that no Ofiicer Shall be allowed 'n
retire b;fore reaching the rank of Lieutenant-Com-
mander.
5. (a) Officers -over 40 years of age to be allowed
on retirement to receive, at their option, either the
active half ray they may have earned by Service, or
the retired pay provided by the Regulations.
(6) Officers under 40 years of age to receive on
retirement the active half pay they have earned by
service.
8. Lieutenant -Commanders or Lieutenants retired
from those ranks may, by permission of the Admir-
alty, riBe to ilii rank of Commander, if. before
retirement, they have served tue time to qualify
them for promotion on the Active List: out no
Officer can obtain tbia step till he has attained theage
of 40.

7. (a) To be retired at the age of 45, Voluntary re-
tirement may, however, be allowed from the age of 40,
at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(b) To be retired at any age if found physically
unfit to Berve.
(c) At the discretion of the Admiralty a Lientenant-
Oommander or Lieutenant on retirement may be
granted the rank of retired Commander.
Lieutenant-Commanders and Lieutenants promoted
from ouief or other gunner, boatswains or
Signal Boatswains, Commissioned or 'Viarrani
Telegraphists, for Acts of Gallantby or Daring.
8. (a) To be retired at the age of B5, or at any age if
five years have elapsed since they last served.
(6) To have the option of retiring at the age of 45
at the discretion of the Admiralty, provided they have
completed 5 years' service as Lieutenant, or as soon
after attaining that age as they shall have completed
such service.
(c) To be retired at any age, at the discretion of
the Admiralty, if found physically unfit tc serve.
(d) If retired under 40 years of age, to receive their
active half-pay, and if over 40 years of age, the rate of
retired pay under Sec VIII. of Order in Council of
22nd February 1870, to which their service may entitle
them, not exceeding 3001. per annum,
Lieutenants promoted from Chief or other Gunners.
Boatswains or Signal Boatswains under Order in
Council of 28th March, 1903.
9. (a) To be retired at the age of B5. Voluntary

40, at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(6) To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty if found physically unfit to serve.
VI.— Sub-Lieutenants.
To be retired at the age of 40, or at any age it'
found physically unfit to serve.
