The Scale of Retired Pay according to Age and Service, to be as follows for Chaplains,*

1. An extra 10Z. per annum to be given to Officers holding the double position of Chaplain and
Naval Instructor for every four years' service in the double capacity, so long as the maximum
retired pay of 4507. per annum is not exceeded. An extra 10?. per annum to be given to officers
holding the position of Chaplain of the Fleet for each year's service in this office, in addition

pay of 500*. The retired pay of Paymasters-in-Chief to be calculated on the above scale up to
£450 per annum but Officers of that rank to be granted an addition of £10 for each
complete year's full pay service in the rank of Paymaster in Chief on the Active List subienr
to the total Retired Pay not exceeding £500 per annum. ' sub J eot

active Hali-pay of their rank at the time of retirement.
4. The retired pay of Chaplains or Chaplains and Naval Instructors entered after the ace of 30
and of Naval Instructors entered after the age of 25, will not depend on their age but on their
service only. The provisions contained in first and fourth columns of the Scale of Retired Pav will
not apply to such Officers ; but the retired pay shall in no case exceed the fixed maximum for
each rank. Should any such Officer have less than 20 years' service he will be granted on retirement
the active half-pay he has earned by service provided he has attained the age of 55 years • if under
55 he will be granted retired pay or gratuity at the rates indicated in paragraphs 11 and 13.*
5. Accountant Officers compulsorily retired before 11 years' service in the Senior -ank on
account of disability arising from causes over which they had no control, may at the discretion
of the Admiralty, count all their Junior Service for increase of retired pay
