qualify for promotion to the Senior Grade, but who may subsequently be promoted, shal
not count their Junior Service subsequent to the date of being passed over. (Order i
Council, 17 September, 1885).
An Officer passed over, but ultimately promoted, may, however, be allowed, at the dii
oretion of the Admiralty, to count his junior service subsequent to the date of his promotio
to the senior grade (Order in Council, 11 May, 1895).
* Chaplains and Naval Instructors who have not completed 3 years' service, may, und«
Order in Council of 21 February, 1874, receive half-pay at the rate of 6s. a day, if unwell (
unable to obtain employment, provided they have not declined or avoidad service, and tbs
their character has been satisfactory. The grant of half-pay to be at the discretion of th
Admiralty.
