Naval Schoolmaster —
In Ships where no Naval Schoolmaster is allowed, payment may be
made at the rate of Is. per lesson to any person satisfactorily
performing the duties of Naval Schoolmaster, under the follow-
ing conditions : —
(1) The total payment for any one quarter not to exceed 45s.
(2) The average length of a lesson over the period for which
payment is made to be not less than one hour.
(3) The average number of names on the School Register for
the same period to be not less than 10 in ships with comple-
ments of 350 and over, and not less than 6 in ships with com-
plements of less than 350.
In Ships allowed a Naval Schoolmaster, any person (not being a
Naval Schoolmaster) selected to perform the duties during the
temporary absence of the Schoolmaster, will be paid an allowance
of 6d. a day for the period of actual employment.
Any person or persons (nut being Naval Schoolmasters) when
actually employed in conducting classes in harbour or shore
establishments, will be paid an allowance of 6rf. a day. The
number to be paid in each establishment will be fixed by the
Admiralty.

Sick Berth ratings.
To person acting as Sick Berth rating in a vessel where this
rating is not allowed, or, if allowed, is not borne, an allowance
of 2d. or 3d. a day according to the responsibilities involved,
Dispensing Allowance — Tp Chief Sick Berth Stewards, Sick Berth
Stewards, and Second Sick Kerth Stewards serving afloat, and to
such Sick Berth ratings when employed on dispensing duties at
certain Naval Hospitals and Sick Quarters
Laboratory Attendant — Payable only when employed in Hospitals
and Hospital Ships, or as specially ordered by Admiralty .
Lunatic Ward Attendant — Payable only when employed in
Hospitals
Masseur — Payable only when employed in Hospitals and Hosp
ital Ships, or as specially ordered by Admiralty
Operating Room Attendant— Payible only when employed in
Hosiiitals and Hospital Ships or as specially ordered by Admiralty.
Zymotic Ward Attendant — Payable only when employed in
Hospitals
Cook — To any person, not being a Cook's Mate, acting as Cook in a
small Vessel or Tender whose complement does not include the
rating, or in any Vessel onboard which care and maintenance
parties sleep and are victualled
Ship's Steward, when Troops are actually embarked (in addition),
in Troop Ships or vessels employed in the conveyance of Troops
Kinir's Regulations, Art. 145fi.
For every 50 Military Officers and Troops victualled

ralty, to the Ship's Steward of any Ship employed in the
oonveyance of Naval Supernumeraries, but in no case will it
be paid for any day on which the number of Naval Super-
numeraries carried does not exceed the authorized sea-going
complement by 200,
