THE TERRITORIAL OFFICERS' DECORATION
AMENDING WARRANT.

Whereas His late Majesty Our Beloved Father King Edward VII, by a
Warrant dated the 17th day of August, 1908, did institute and create a new
Decoration to be designated " The Territorial Decoration " ;
And whereas it was ordained by the said Royal Warrant what persons should
be eligible for this Decoration ;
And whereas We have thought fit to signify our Royal Will and Pleasure
that tfye said Royal Warrant shall be amended for the purpose of denning more
strictly what persons shall be eligible for this Decoration ;
Now therefore We do by these Presents for Us, Our Heirs and Successors,
ordain that the following Ordinance shall be substituted for the corresponding
Ordinance in the said Royal Warrant, and shall henceforth be construed and have the
same effect as if it formed part of the said Royal Warrant :—
Fourthly. — It is ordained that no person shall be eligible for this Decoration
who is in possession of the Volunteer Officers' Decoration, nor shall he be nominated
thereto wnless he —
(1 ) is or was a Commissioned Officer and has served for twenty years on
the Active List of Our Territorial Force, including commissioned service in the
Senior and Junior Divisons of Our Officers Training Corps ; previous
commissioned service in our Yeomanry Cavalry, Imperial Veomanry or
Volunteer Force ; previous service qualifying for the Colonial Auxiliary Forces
or Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration ; and all service, while
holding a Volunteer Officers' Commission, as an acting or honorary officer of a
Cadet Corps, or Cadet Battalion, after attaining the age of seventeen years ;
(2) is recommended by the commanding Officer of the Unit in which he
has served ; and
(3) is duly certified by the District Military Authorities in which the
Unit is located, as having been an efficient and thoroughly capable Officer, in
every way deserving of such a Decoration ;
Provided nevertheless and We do hereby declare that half of any time during
which an Officer of Our Territorial Force may have served on the Active List in the
ranks of Our said Force, or in the ranks of our Yeomanry Cavalry, Imperial
Yeomanry, or Volunteer Force, after attaining the age of seventeen years ; or in the
ranks of a Cadet Corps or Cadet Battalion which belonged to the organization
existing before the 21st May, 1910; or as a Cadet in the Senior Division of Our
Officers Training Corps, after attaining the age of seventeen years ; shall reckon as
qualifying service towards the twenty years required as aforesaid.
Provided also and We do further declare that commissioned service shall not
reckon as qualifying service towards the twenty years required as aforesaid, in the
case of :
(i.) A University candidate for a Commission in Our Regular Army,
except for the period or periods of service with a Contingent of Our Officers
Training Corps.
(ii.) An Officer transferred to the Unattached List after the 31st
March, 1911, except one who is transferred for duty with Our Officers Training
Corps.
(iii.) An Officer whose military services are available only on mobilization,
except for the period or periods of mobilized service.
Given at Our Court at Saint James 's, this third day of May, in the second
year of Our Reign, and in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine
hundred and twelve.
